v From the Office of SRO: Please remember the dress code for SSHS students is as follows-
1. No bare shoulders, which includes both boys and girls!
2. Shorts and skirts are to be finger length or longer.
3. No midriff showing at all.
4. Hats off during school hours, leave them in your car or locker please.
If you do not follow dress code you will be pulled down to SRO & given something appropriate to wear. (SRO 9/14-9/30)
v Students!!! Please remember to pick up your hallways during passing. Take pride in being a Cougar and help keep our Home clean. (SRO 9/14-9/30)
v All Students must have their student ID cards with them at all times, including extra-curricular events. (SRO 9/15-9/30)
v Wireless speakers & music in the hallways are not permitted per district policy. It creates a safety issue for all students & staff & an unnecessary disturbance in the hallway. Speakers will be confiscated & a parent will have to come pick it up, there could also be some additional consequences. (SRO 9/15-9/30)
v Tutoring is available in the Career Center on Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays from 2:45-4:00. End-of-Course Prep is available from 2:45-4:00 also. On Math Mondays & Scientific Tuesdays go to the Career Center, for Thematic Thursdays go to Room 214 for English End-of-Course Exam support. (Cohen 9/9-9/30)
v When attending athletic events & activities, please remember you are representing the school & the community. Come out & support our teams in positive ways. Inappropriate behaviors such as booing, taunting, use of profanity & disrespecting the players is unacceptable & will lead to removal from the events, possible bans from attending future events & consequences from the Student Relations Office. Use of air horns & popping streamers are also against NIAA policy & can lead to teams being penalized. (Urmston 9/14-9/30)
v Pocket Knives of any size are not permitted on campus or at any school sponsored event. Disciplinary action will be taken if you are in possession of a pocket knife at school or at a WCSD event. (SRO 9/21-9/30)
v PSAT will be given to all Sophomores on October 19th. The test is available to Freshman & Juniors for $15. The PSAT is a qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship for Juniors. Please see your counselor if you are interested. You may sign up in the counseling office with Mrs. Ruiz or online at the web store. (Counseling Office 9/7-10/14)
v Girls Lacrosse will be meeting on Tuesday September 27th in Room 203 (Tatro 9/23-9/27)
v Picture retakes and make-ups will take place on Tuesday the 27th only in the gym foyer. Please be sure to see the schedule on the bulletin boards in order to take pictures! (Marvin 9/23-9/26)
v SENIORS!!! FAFSA is due in October this year! Sign up with Taveira to have someone help you complete the FAFSA on October 1st at TMCC. (Taveira 9/6-9/26)
v Senior Latino Students… TMCC will be hosting an informational night presented exclusively in Spanish on September 27th from 6-8 PM at TMCC. Dinner will be provided. See Mrs. Taveira in the Career Center for more information. (Taveira 9/19-9/27)
v Cougars!!! The cougar mascot auditions will be held in Room 201 on Wednesday, September 28th, at lunch! If you can get crazy at football games, come out and audition!!! (Faker 9/16-9/28)

v ZAPS test prep seminars will be offered in the Reno area in September & October. Spanish Springs High School will host its own PSAT/SAT prep course on Sunday, October 8th from 12:30-6:00pm. v Do you need community service hours? Earn your hours & contribute to a positive school culture by helping out after the next 3 home football games on September 23rd, October 14th & October 21st. Talk to Athletic Director, Art Anderson to find out how & sign up. (A. Anderson 9/14-9/30)

v The Latinos Unidos Club will be selling fruit in front of the counseling office during lunch tomorrow. (Cable 9/22-9/23)
v The Cougar Battalion is hosting the Cougar Drill Meet this Saturday, September 24th. Come support your Cougar JROTC Drill Team! We will be competing against Reed, Hug, Wooster and many other WCSD schools!!! (Wales 9/20-9/23)
v TMCC is offering a Latino Parent Night taking place on September 27th from 6-8pm at the Dandini Campus. A free 3-credit class is being raffled that night for those who participate & dinner will be provided. Please see Ms. Hamilton if you have any questions. (Counseling Office 9/15-9/30)
v Athletes!!! If you are interested in trying out for a WINTER SPORT, come to the main office and pick up an Athletic Clearance Packet or a “Quick” form (if already cleared for a fall sport). You must have your clearance packet or “Quick” form turned in by Monday November 1st!
