1.     Cougars, don’t forget to bring your hygiene items to the helping the homeless box located in the main hall.  (Faker 10/22-11/10)

2.     FCCLA and Leadership will be hosting a food drive.  Please drop off canned foods in the buckets in rooms 201 and 107.  (Faker 11/2-11/20)

3.     Leadership is seeking boy volleyball players for our annual charity volleyball game against Reed.  Tryouts will be November 15 and 22 from 8-10 am in the big gym.  Stay tuned for other dates for tryouts/practices.  (Faker 11/2-11/15)

4.     Boys wishing to try out for basketball, tryouts will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14 and Monday Nov. 16.  All boys wishing to tryout must complete the clearance packet prior to tryouts.  Fall sport athletes wishing to tryout must also complete a quick clearance.  See Mrs. Sterett to get cleared.  Please see the signs posted in the gym and boys locker room for tryout times or see Coach Penney.  (Penney 11/2-11/13)

5.     Attention all ski racers, the Cougar Ski Team will have an info meeting on Tuesday at lunch in room 122.  Practice starts the 17th, so get clearances done!  See you Tuesday at lunch!  (Weible 11/5-11/9)

6.     Students:   Are you interested in becoming a Medical Doctor or Dentist?  See Mrs. Taveira in the Career Center for an opportunity to meet with reps from the UNR School of Medicine and UNLV School of Dental Medicine.  (Taveira 11/5-11/10)

7.     Join us for our SSHS Senior Student-Athlete Signing Ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 12:30 in the SSHS Main Gym Lobby.  The following athletes are signing with their respective colleges:
Hayley Fein (Softball) = California State University, Monterey Bay
Bailey Ivory (Softball) = Caldwell University, New Jersey (Anderson 11/6-11/12)

8.      Attention SkillsUSA Members – Any SkillsUSA members going to the Fall Leadership Conference need to meet in Mr. Bowers’ room at lunch on Tuesday.  The SkillsUSA meeting at lunch on Tuesday will go over information and dress for the conference.  (Bowers 11/6-11/10)

9.     Students, Are you interested in attending the Naval Academy at Annapolis??  We will have a special guest from the Naval Academy in the Career Center on Monday, November 23rd from 1-2:30 to answer all your questions.  See Mrs. Taveira in the College and Career Center to sign up to attend.  (Taveira 11/9-11/23)

10.                          FCCLA meets every Tuesday at lunch in room 107.  (Gach 11/9-11/10)

11.                          Only here this week and next, SSHS Cafeteria is featuring a couple of new sandwiches that are going to get your taste buds ready for Fall.  First up:  The Southern style Chicken Salad Sandwich with diced celery and grapes.  Also, the Turkey Ba-BOOM sandwich:  Sliced turkey with a spicy mayo sauce and pepper jack cheese.  Fuel up with lunch!  (Kitchen 11/9-11/20)

12.                          There are only 4 days left to clear for WINTER Athletics!  Turn in your clearance form to Mrs. Sterett in the office.  (Sterett 11/9-11/12)

CONGRATULATIONS to our Boys Cross Country Team of Andrew Ribeiro, Daniel Horner, Matt Hakin, Hunter Beadell, Josh Rodriguez, Craig Postlethwaite, and Seth Barker for beating every team from Vegas to earn the second place NIAA State Championship title.  What an accomplishment for our first trip to State as a Cross Country Team!  Congratulations as well to Lauryn Massic for her individual performance finishing 15th in the girls race.  Way to go Cougars!  (Beadell 11/9)
