·      Students!!  Are you interested in getting community service hours?  See Mrs. Taveira in the College & Career Center for more information.  (Taveira 8/24-9/2)

·      Sophomores!!! Truckee Meadows Community College is hosting a Job Awareness Fair for 10th graders on Friday, September 23rd.  You will visit the William N. Pennington Applied Technology Center at TMCC.  Students will be able to meet with representatives from many different Career & Technical Education departments.  Local employers will be on hand to speak to students about the field and job opportunities.  If you are interested please see Mrs. Ruiz in the counseling office to sign up.  (Counseling Office 8/22-9/9)

·      National Honors Society is having a pizza luncheon on Wednesday, August 31st.  Come have free pizza, bring a friend and learn about the most prestigious club at SSHS! (B. Kelley 8/25-8/31)

·      Congratulations to the Lady Cougar Volleyball team for winning the Yerington Invitational Tournament this weekend.  The Cougars were 8-0 on the weekend and won the first regular season volleyball tournament in school history.  Good job Cougars.  (Sandomenico 8/29)

·      Congratulations to the cross country team at the Douglas Class Races on Friday. Both the Sophomore and Junior boys dominated every school in the north taking home first place team titles.  The following runners had top ten finishes:  For the sophomores boys - Daniel Horner – 1st place , Cole Hendricks 10th place.  For the junior boys – turning in the fastest time for SSHS was Andrew Ribeiro finishing in 2nd place, Matt Hakin 5th place, and Hunter Beadell 6th place, Alexis Melendrez finished 2nd place for the junior girls and 5th overall out of over 220 runners!   Come cheer our runners on at the Nevada Twilight Classic this Friday night as they race under the lights at Shadow Mountain Park. JV starts at 6:00 and varsity starts at 9:00.  (Beadell 8/29)

·      Cougars!  Are you one of the most spirited students on campus?  Prove yourself in the student section at each sporting event to win a trophy & be announced “Most Spirited Boy/Girl” of the season!!  (8/26-9/9)

·      The Blood Drive will be Wednesday, September 7th from 7:30 AM-1:00 PM.  Sign-ups will be Monday the 29th of August.  Every donation saves 3 lives.  Please contact leadership in Room 201 for permission slips & to make an appointment.  (Faker 8/26-8/31)
