v There will be an FCCLA meeting today at lunch in Room 107.  Information about the Fall Leadership Rally will be provided.  (Gach 11/7)

v Seniors!!! Do you need help with the FAFSA application?  The FAFSA is required to be completed in order for you to qualify for financial aid!  See Taveira in the Career Center for more info.  (Taveira 10/24-11/10)

v JAG is selling cell phone accessories, power banks and selfie sticks for $15.  Earbuds and charger cables for $10.  Please see a JAG student or Mr. Merrill or Mrs. Sindar-House in Room 140.  We have completed a pre order so we have some stock to give you your NEW accessory right now!  (Merrill 10/25-11/18)

v SkillsUSA members going to the Fall Leadership Conference, there will be a meeting at lunch on Wednesday November 9th, in Mr. Bowers room- room 118.  This is only for members attending the Skills USA Fall Leadership Conference!  (M. Bowers 11/4-11/9)

v STUDENTS!!!!  When you call to have your parents pick you up because you’re sick PLEASE come wait for them in the Clinic!  I CANNOT disrupt your classroom by calling or sending notes to get you!  Thanks.  (Clinic 11/2-11/30)

v FIDM- Fashion Institute of Design Merchandising will be in front of the College/Career Center on Monday November 7th.  Stop by and get you questions answered.  (Taveira 11/2-11/7)

v Seniors!  UNR will be in the Career Center on Wednesday November 9th from 11:30-1:30 for an application workshop.  See Taveira in the Career Center to sign up.  (Taveira 11/2-11/9)

v Attention Ski Team and students who want to be on the Ski Team, there will be a required meeting Wednesday, November 9th at lunch in Room 122.  See you there!  (Weible 11/4-11/9)

v Winter tryouts: for SSHS Cheer and Stunt Teams will be November 7-9th.  Get your athletic packets turned in prior to the first day of tryouts!  If you’ve already played a Fall Sport, be sure to turn in a Quick athletic form before tryouts.  Tryout flyers are in the office with all the details.  Let’s make this winter season the best one yet!  (Coach Allen 11/1-11/7)

v Athletes….. If you are interested in trying out for a WINTER SPORT, come to the main office and pick up an Athletic Clearance Packet or a “Quick” form (if already cleared for a fall sport).
Remember you are not able to participate or tryout for a winter sport until you are on the coaches cleared roster.
Official Try-Outs start Saturday, November 12th.     Here are the winter sports and the coaches that are available for you:
Winter Cheer – Gina Allen
Basketball Boys – Kyle Penney
Basketball Girls – Arturo Cardenas
Rifle – Wade Mendenhall
Ski – Brett Weible

v Boy’s Basketball tryouts will be held on Saturday November 12th and Monday November 14th.  Any boy wishing to tryout must complete the clearance packet and have it turned in to Mrs. Sterett in the main office BEFORE tryouts.  Any student NOT on the clearance list will not be allowed to tryout!  Tryouts will be as follows:
Saturday November 12th:
Boys Varsity: 8-10am & 4-6pm in the big gym
Boys JV: 8-10am & 2-4pm in the big gym
Boys Freshman: 8-10am & 2-4pm in the small gym

Monday November 14th:
Boys Varsity: 3-5pm in the big gym
Boys JV: 3-5pm in the big gym
Boys Freshman: 3-5pm in the big gym
***Those trying out need to wear appropriate shoes, shirt and shorts***

v SSHS Senior Student-Athlete Signing Ceremony will be on Wednesday November 9th at 11:45 AM in the Main Gym.  Students who are signing will be:

Jada McAlister (Golf)- Alabama State University
Joshua Prizina (Baseball)- University of Nevada, Reno

Congratulations:

v To the Boys Cross Country Team as they backed up last week’s Regional title with their FIRST State title!  Three Cougars finished in the top six.  Daniel Horner (15:39) took 3rd, Mathew Hakin (15:43) took 5th and Andrew Ribeiro (15:44) took 6th!  Hunter Beadell (16:18) was 14th and James Daniels (16:45) was the 32nd runner to cross the finish line (out of 77) to round out the Cougar’s top 5 finishers beating the second place team, Green Valley, by 39 points!!!  Congratulations as well to Alexis Melendrez who finished 3rd out of 75 in the girl’s 4A race with a time of 18:38.  She is the FIRST girl to ever earn a State Cross Country medal in Spanish Springs history!!!   (Beadell 11/7)
